Plain Rice

  • Rice 10 oz
  • Cold water 1 pint
  • Ghee or butter 1-2 tbsp
  • Salt 1/4 tsp
Cooking Directions
  1. Wash the rice twice in fresh water.
  2. Leave to soak for 5 minutes, then drain.
  3. Warm the ghee in a saucepan, add rice and fry, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the water and salt, stir and cook till 3/4 of the water has dried.
  5. Place saucepan in a moderate oven on a low heat and cook till water has gone and rice is tender.
